Childhood Trauma Hurts Your Health

An ACE score is a 10-question tally of different types of abuse, neglect, and other adverse childhood experiences before the age of 18. Our bodies literally change because of some of the trauma we experience in childhood. The ACE score is a measure of cumulative childhood stress exposure. Adverse childhood experiences can cause widespread negative adult health outcomes, such as asthma, cancer, depression, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
The higher your ACE score, the higher your risk of disease, and social and emotional problems. A score of 4 or more has serious health impacts: the likelihood of chronic pulmonary lung disease increases 390%; hepatitis 240%; depression 460%; attempted suicide 1,200%

Impact of Bullying and Racism

The ACE score leaves out a lot of traumatic events that children might suffer, such as bullying, racism, and family estrangement due to gender or sexual identity. These are other factors to be considered at intake and initial assessment, which help us to design a brain training program that meets your unique needs.
