Phoenix Neurofeedback has had the great pleasure of working with many amazing clients. Here are some of the kind words they had to say.
When my daughter was 16, she had two concussions. I took her to a neurologist, who did not take her brain injury seriously, and referred me to a psychiatrist instead of requesting an MRI. In the meantime, she had become irritable and aggressive, and her ADHD had worsened significantly. Then I learned about neurofeedback. After only a few brain training sessions with Carolyn, I noticed that my daughter was already reverting to her calm self. By the end of the neurofeedback training, her aggression was gone, and so was her ADHD.

I got a head injury from a fall in gymnastics. I was getting a lot of migraines and my emotional state wasn’t that great. And already being a teenager, that was tough. The neurofeedback calmed down my irritability and migraines. I was surprised that it worked. It seemed so—not primitive, but… attaching stuff to my head? But it did work. It got rid of my migraines and stabilized my mood. It helped a lot in therapy. It gave me the ability, instead of just being angry all the time, to have a wider range of emotions—or just be able to distinguish between them better. And now as an adult, it has helped me identify my emotions better.

For most of my life, I was a rageaholic. There was no joy in my life. No amount of psychotherapy, drugs, meditation, hypnotherapy, psychic healings, great sex life, or vacations in Maui could lighten the bruising black pain of my spirit. Now things that used to incite me to a killing rage just roll right off my back. My friends have been blown away by the changes in me. Even my boss has noticed it. He says I’ve become “totally mellow.” I feel calmer, and I don’t get upset about anything anymore.

I’m a Viet Nam vet who had a violently physically abusive dad. For most of my adult life I dealt with it by drinking a fifth or two a day. Needless to say, I was a very angry human being. I was angry about the war and unconsciously angry about my childhood. Within four or five neurofeedback sessions, I began experiencing a dramatic change. I started becoming more mentally stable and I started coming out of my shell. I stopped drinking. Completely. I noticed I wasn’t angry on the job anymore. Actually, my workers noticed it first. My friends and family have noticed a major difference. After 40 sessions, my life has changed completely. I’ve shed 40 years of anger, anguish and pain. For the first time in my life, I am genuinely happy.

Everyday stimulus can be a lot for neurodiverse people. We get overwhelmed so easily by our environment. Maybe it’s the car suddenly honking, or random explosions of sound—becoming over-stimulated happens quickly, and often beyond our immediate control. It’s disorienting, and you just want to escape from the world. My coping strategies are dialed down dramatically now in comparison to before neurofeedback. It’s a relief to be able to go out in public and not have to brace myself, or struggle to navigate my environment. Social events are less scary. I’m more centered and not as emotionally on edge as I once was.
I didn’t expect my memory to improve the way it did, not just short-term, but long-term memory. There’s so much more information there for me to access now. Before, I could zone out on social media apps for hours on end—now I am more interested in learning. I can focus for longer periods of time and retain much more. Learning is fun again. I can read for longer before getting distracted. The trauma responses I’ve lived with most of my life have improved or been alleviated. I’m a calmer, more objective person, and I feel so much more stable emotionally.
